Mount Saviour Monastery

March 2016
Bishop ClarkNews:
On the first Sunday of March, the community sang Vespers and Compline with the members of Grace Episcopalian Church of Elmira.  Between the two prayers, we had time to share a meal and renew our long standing friendship with that Church.  On March 13th, we welcomed the Bishop Emeritus of Rochester, Matthew Clark who celebrated mass and gave a lecture on the influence of Pope Francis in the Year of Mercy.  After the lecture, he spent some time with the monks as we remembered his first visit in August 1979 for the Dedication of our church.  We enjoyed the spring weather and felt sorry for those who endured harsh weather conditions in other parts of the country.  Then came Easter with its preparation and celebration with many guests.
