Mount Saviour Monastery

News:
On August 1st. the Abbot President of the Subiaco-Cassinese Congregation,
Abbot Bruno Marin osb, appointed Abbot Cuthbert Brogan osb
from Farnborough, England as Administrator of Mount Saviour Monastery.
On August 15th, after the celebration of the mass of the Assumption, Abbot
Anselm Atkinson osb from Pluscarden, Scotland, who is in charge of
the English Province of the Congregation presided and approved the
election of of Br. John Thompson as Prior. Br. John was born
on April 1st. 1956 and graduated at Lemoyne College with a degree in religious
studies. He joined Mount Saviour in Dec. 1994 and was assigned sacristy
work and the orchard. For the past 10 years, he has been in charge
of the formation program, novice master and vocation director.
Br. Pierre is the Sub-Prior and Br. Gabriel will be the oblate
director. On August 16th, Abbot Anselm presided at the liturgy
for the Dedication Day. A brunch for all who attended mass and a
musical program ended the festivities. The work for the steps and
the sidewalks are not finished. The predictions of the contractor
did not materialize in a timely fashion. We will have a part-time helper
at St. Gertrude's starting in September. Those who stay at St. Gertrude's
will have their main meal with the monks until other arrangements are in
place.
