Candles made at Mount Saviour Monastery
Our beeswax candles  for the Shop aare made by Br. Thomas.
Thes feast of the Presentation of the Lord is celebrated with a procession with candles.  One of the French names for that feast was 'La Chandeleur' (derived from the word candle).  Shrove Tuesday is a day of relaxation for us before the ascetic days of Lent.  We ended the day watching the delightful (for the eyes) movie 'Ratatouille'.  Seeing the intricacy of French cuisine was enough to satisfy our appetites.  On February 10th, Fr. Martin spent a week in the hospital to treat his "walking pneumonia".  We are grateful for your concern and prayers on his behalf.  He is regaining his strength slowly.  Winter is not as severe here as we know elsewhere.  The cold weather makes us aware that the cost of heating fuel has reached records high.  We have in our files documents dated in 1966 telling us that the oil would be increased from .10c a gallon to .10 point 7.  Those were the 'good old days'.
