Mount Saviour Monastery

February 2004
News:
On the week-end of February 6-8, a Retreat for Knitters was organized by Penelope Byham from New York City.  The participants were able to share ideas regarding their crafts and some talks were given by the monks.  Br. Pierre dealt with the notion of caring in the Rule of St. Benedict and, in particular, with the sheep of the monastery .

The following week-end, a youth group from Grace Episcopal Church  from Elmira had their retreat here and surprised the monks with beautiful hand-made Valentine cards.  The Cornell Catholic Community and students from Nazareth College from Rochester NY  used the guest house facilities on the following week-ends.

On February 25, Rodgers Reinicke who lead the New York Oblates for many years, died of a stroke.  Fr. Martin attended the funeral with many friends from that area.

Coming Events:
A trip to the Italian District is being arranged for friends of Mount Saviour in September 2004.  Please call Diane Treveiler for details.  Toll free: 866 831-7769.

A Vocation Discernment week will be held at Mount Saviour Monastery, June 13-18, 2004 and January, 2-9 2005.  There are a number of stereotypes of monastic life and most of them are quite mistaken.  As our Lord said to Andrew and John: "If you know what you are looking for, the best thing is to come and see."
