News: The month began with the 92nd. birthday of Br.
Luke Pape who had just finished this watercolor painting. He
attends most of the offices faithfully and can move around with his walker
(on wheels). Shrove Tuesday is a traditional "free day" ending with
a movie to relax (Duck Soup with the Marx Brothers). On Feb. 18th,
we had a meeting with Abbot Timothy Kelly, president of the American
Cassinese congregation, and Fr. Dan Ward who informed us on the
proceedings of their congregation. Some Sisters of St. Joseph
from Rochester rented the guest house for their retreat and invited the
monks to share a meal with them. On the 27th, we finalized the contract
to repair the refectory with tinted windows and structural improvements.
Our oblate/friend, Diane Treveiler, who arranged trips for the monastery in the past, is now planning a trip to Santiago de Compostela.
